Blog – When I get ’round 2 it… Began 25 April 2020…
July 30, 2020… This morning the day started GREAT! I met retired USAF. Colonel Doug James for breakfast at the Hangar Cafe located at the Chandler Airport.
Doug and I met at JetBlue Airways where he still is a senior captain. He has a rich aviation history.
Doug is partner in a Turbo Charged Beech 36. Next breakfast will be a flight to KAVQ (Marana) for breakfast.
We pilots seem to enjoy the $100 breakfasts better…
We said “So Long” and departed ‘cept I almost didn’t! I have a 2013 Prius that I’ve bragged on as to how it never has anything go wrong and it has nearly 140,000 miles on it.
I went to start and nothing! After turning off and on several times, away I went – straight to the dealer and I was thinking “oh oh” is this the expensive battery replacement time?
Nope! It was the regular car battery that had never been changed! I’ve never had a regular battery last more than three years in the desert heat. This one lasted five!
Anyway, it was a quick and easy fix! Whew!
I’m back to braggin’ on the car I was coaxed into buying by pilot buddy, John Liebelt, and then talked into keeping by another pilot pal, Rick Adams.
I have never had a car as good ever! 45 – 50 mpg, comfortable, nice handling, and nothing goes wrong. Well almost nothing until t’day’s battery replacement.
